This Privacy Policy explains what information ScamRead (“we”, “us”) collects when you use scamread.com and the ScamRead scam checker at app.scamread.com, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Text you submit to the scam checker. When you paste a message, email, link or other text into the ScamRead checker, we process it to analyze it for scam patterns and show you the result. We do not store the messages, links or text you paste into the checker. Your text is processed only to analyze it and show you the result, and it is not saved once the check is complete. If this ever changes, we will update this policy before it does. Please do not paste passwords, full card numbers, Social Security numbers or other sensitive personal information into the checker.
Information you send us. If you use a form on scamread.com, such as our contact form, the Report a Scam page, or the form where you ask us to review a suspicious message, we receive what you choose to send (for example your name, email address and the message) by email so we can respond. This is separate from the automated checker at app.scamread.com, which does not store what you paste.
Usage data (analytics). We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, for example which pages are visited and how people arrive. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects information such as your approximate location, device, browser and pages viewed. We do not use this data to identify you personally. Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and the time of each request, for security and to keep the site running.
How we use information
- To provide the scam checker and show you results
- To reply to messages and scam reports
- To understand which content is useful and improve the site
- To protect the site from abuse and keep it secure
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
We use cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and for basic site functions. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.
